Pittsburgh Paints molded plastic lighted rainbow sign hardware store display
This listing is for a very cool Pittsburgh Paints molded plastic lighted rainbow sign that was part of a hardware store display in a small community hardware store just south of Pittsburgh. This sign was still installed on the wall when we picked it up, right over top of the tinting dispenser and paint mixer!
It is a great example of vintage store advertising and still glows beautifully when turned on. This IS NOT a neon fixture! This is a molded plastic case that holds two circular bulbs that illuminate the sign when switched on!
This sign is about 29 inches tall, about 19 inches wide and about 4 1/2 inches deep. The display was installed with screws into the wall when we picked it up, but as you can see in the photos it also has two hangers if you prefer to install it that way. Condition: This sign is in nice condition, but it was actually a store display, so it does show some signs of use and wear. There are some scratches and crazing to the surface (look specifically around the "P" in the lit photo).There are a few cracks here and there and a few paint spatters. A few areas have had the color rub off in the "P" which you can notice when it is lit. The original owner also cut some holes in the back to accommodate the outlet and plug.
A few of the tiny screws that hold the face and back together are also missing. I have tried to document as many of these things as possible.
