Sanger Harris went out of business in 1987 and merged with Foley's. It had been hanging over the men's department with eye hooks drilled into the top of the wood frame and chains that allowed it to be moved up or down as they moved it around the floor. It is about 43" wide and 31" tall. The story goes that Tommy Hilfiger had to go store to store and sell his designs himself, one store at a time. Of course, today his designs are admired everywhere. His story is an inspiration to entrepreneurs everywhere. This display has some scratches, nicks, paint rubs and the corners have shrunk from the wood drying out. They had to be glued.

There is a solid wood backing on this display to give it extra support as it was hanging from Sanger's ceiling. And the frame is about 3 wide. I doubt there will ever be another one this nice and have a wood frame and backing. It is an original hand painted sign on canvas.

No artist signature that I can find on it. It seems like the newer pieces of advertising are all plastic. This advertisement sign is The Tommy Hilfiger Logo and has the patriotic colors red, white and blue.
