This wonderful old 1926 trifold Columbia Records cardboard sign measures 29 1/2" tall x 45" across. I'm also listing another one from 1925. This came from an old record store and would have been displayed on the counter.
The picture is signed "Shanks" on the lower left side and and shows us a winter community barn dance, with snow on the windows and a sleigh full of people about to dismount by the door. But that's not all! In the center, there are people clustered around a record player, while all around are dancers, folks struggling with a horse on one side and a cow on the other, a kid drinking straight from a punch bowl, two Oriental women watching it all --etc!!
The great 1920's cartoon style of the illustration makes it all delightful to look at, as you see more and more little scenarios taking place. There are two large records at the top, records in the hands of people in the center, and two guys arriving carrying them, too. Due to it's age, there is wear, some darkening at the top where the picture was exposed to light while this was folded closed, and some water damage. I tried to show whatever I noticed, but please enlarge the photos and look carefully. Overall, it is still sturdy and an amazing piece of advertising.
Please look all the photos carefully--they are part of my description! And contact me if you have any questions.. The exception to this is a large or complex object that may require building a box.
