1900s JAPP'S HAIR REJUVENATOR Tin LITHO Display Sign w/Six SAMPLES ex Ks. Advertising counter display sign from the early 1900s. If desired, I can provide the lot number details with a copy of the original sales bill to the new owner to support its provenance. Here is the original lot details/description.
Antiques Metal Cardboard Easel Sign, Japps Hair Rejuvenator, Wrapped In Plastic, 9.25" x 13.25", Missing 1 Lock Of Hair. As you can see its still wrapped in some plastic-wrap that is starting to deteriorate however the litho-graphics look absolutely fine!!
This sign is basically new old stock, originally had 7 color samples but one hair sample is missing and has deteriorated away, still has original hair retaining loop for this sample left on the sign. Has a lace to hang it from and an easel like fold out stand on the back for tabletop use, looks to have never been unfolded. Would easily date to the early 1900s, has an old grease pencil date of 1904 on the plastic wrap.
On the lower front right corner edge. Measures about 13-1/4 inches wide and 9-1/4 inches tall, about 1/4 inch or so thick. Absolutely super colorful litho graphics on this one, has a vignette in each upper corner of a dapper young mustached gentleman and a lovely flowing hair lady showing results from the use of this product. This amazing sign is in beautiful condition with no major blemishes, scratches, or damage to the surface, I'm sure this is a NOS piece and still wrapped like this when made but just never used, very clean and remarkably well preserved for its age, complete with six of the seven examples of colored "human hair", would be pretty hard to improve upon. Its hard to find this piece anymore with most of the original samples intact - truly a rare collector's item in beautiful antique condition. This is the perfect gift for the person that collects hair product advertising or would be fabulous decor in a hairdresser salon or barber type shop - check it out!! Please see all photos provided and let me know if you have any questions.
